“Of all the needs (there are none imaginary) a lonely child has, the one that must be satisfied, if there is going to be hope and a hope of wholeness, is the unshaken need for an unshakable God.”  -Maya Angelou

It’s a tanpopo (dandelion) kind of day!  Happy Monday everyone!

Earlier this year, one of my students, Keisuke, asked if I could shoot his band so that they would have images to show on their website.  I thought it would be a fun project as I have never shot a band before.  The band, Alter Chord, met me in March and we had fun shooting at several locations at their school’s campus.  Below are the results.  Enjoy!

Happy Friday, everyone!  Japan is getting ready for “koinobori“.  This is the most wind socks I have ever seen in all my years in Japan.  Enjoy!

As people where leaving church after the Easter service and lunch, my family was one of the last ones to leave.  My youngest had just taken a short nap inside the church and being the photographer that I am, I decided to just take a few shots of my kids and my friends’ kids.  Well, I was delighted with what I captured.

CAUTION: There is a lot of cuteness in this post.  And I mean a lot!  This is not for the faint of heart.  I repeat: it is not for the faint of heart!  Proceed with caution….and oh yeah: enjoy!!

It’s cherry blossom season in Japan and you knew I’d post an image about it sooner or later.  Enjoy the quote and enjoy God’s creation!

Awake, thou wintry earth -
Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth
Your ancient gladness!
~Thomas Blackburn, “An Easter Hymn”

Spring is here.  The cherry blossoms are late this year but they are just around the corner.  And when that happens, this beautiful lady will be my model during a spring shoot project.  The images below are from a short shoot we did at the end of last year.  Enjoy!

My good friends at church, Rocky and Marla, are releasing a new CD real soon!  Woo hoo!!  We went around town to shoot some picures to go into their CD.  Enjoy the images!

A Ship in Harbor…

January 9, 2012

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” ~John A. Shedd, Salt from My Attic (1928)

We are made to experience life and all it has to offer and not stay safely at home.  Mark Twain said it best:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.

Use your God-given gifts and talents to serve your family, friends and community.  Don’t be afraid to take risks and dream big in 2012!!
