January 11, 2011How to Deal with Ugly Shadows
January 11, 2011Today’s tutorial is from nationally renowned wedding photographer, David Ziser. I’m a big fan of David’s teaching, especially in the areas of posing and off-camera lighting. In the tutorial below, he talks about how to deal with shadows. If you like this tutorial, please watch his other tutorials on vimeo here. You can also learn from David by going over to his blog. There are tons of information there that will help you take your photography to the next level.

We Will Miss You!
January 9, 2011After three years living and working in Tokyo, Anne’s older brother, Mike, and his family are moving back to the States. For my family, it has often been a challenge to share and have people understand what it is like to live in a different culture, especially a culture as different as Japan’s. So when Mike and Elle moved to Japan, we were excited to have family near us. They shared with us and understood the joys and frustrations of living in this beautiful country.
I’m sure if they had their way, they would stay here longer but new adventures await them in the States. And they are ready to embrace them! We are sad to see them go but we will see them again. Their love for Japan and its people will assure future visits from them.
Mike, Elle, Claire, Alex and James: thank you for the awesome memories! We love you so much and we will be praying for your transition. Enjoy your last few days in Japan!

Thirst Relief Mentor Auction: Monday (January 10, 2011)
January 7, 2011Okay, my fellow photographers, how would you like to be a part of a vision to save lives and change the world? That is exactly the vision of Thirst Relief International, an organization whose mission statement reads, “Our mission is to overcome death and disease resulting from the consumption of contaminated water by providing safe, clean drinking water to those in need around the world.”
1) “If you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk” 2) “Actions speak louder than words” 3) “Practice what you preach”
The above expressions capture the character of the organization’s founder and president, Jim Davis-Hicks. When you read about him or listen to him speak, you really get a sense of his heart and passion for helping people in need.
Below is a short video promo of what Thirst Relief is all about. You can also access the full promotion video here.
